Lagos floods: emergency response and accountability

Lekki, Ajah, and parts of Victoria Island took the brunt of the rainfall. Drainage infrastructure that was supposed to have been upgraded under the 2024 stormwater contract is still uncompleted — a fact that has reopened public scrutiny of the contractor.

LASEMA director-general Femi Oke-Osanyintolu has called for an emergency joint sitting with the Lagos State House of Assembly. The state government has approved an immediate ₦2 billion relief tranche.
